I still find it wild that a fall in figure skating only costs you 1 point, when the top skaters have totals of over 200 points. I find it strange to watch competitions where two skaters can compete similar difficulty, have similar presentation, and one falls and still manages to win - it makes much more sense to me in gymnastics where unless you're Simone Biles, a fall generally takes you out of the running for a medal. It would make more sense to me for skaters to lose 5 or 10 points for a fall, so that they only competed jumps that they knew they had a high chance of making every time instead of just chucking endless dodgy quads.
